I know, right?! Where should the crown R be, on the receiver, the barrel, or both?

Is the buttplate indicative of a Suhl rifle? I'm not sure if it helps, but, it's worth a shot.

MikeGermany, thanks for the info, that helps alot. No, there's no indication of Mauser anywhere on the rifle and no crown R either.

By the way, the retailers name on the rib of the barrel was Heinrich Munch of Aachen, Germany.

Thanks! I really appreciate everything you could tell me about it! It's not a rifle I ever plan on partin with, especially with all it's seen through the years. The stock could be in better shape, but you can't expect much more from a liberated rifle.

No, it's a commercial Mauser, I'm just not sure what it is. It's chambered in 8x60S though.
