Split rings or solid rings? HT clone/mock up

On the fence here. I ordered split ring mounts from Accumounts, but obviously solid rings are more accuate in apperance. What does the hive think? Spend the extra dough for solid ring mount? Practicality of split rings worth it over more historically accurate look. I found a period correct Hensoldt Dialytan 4x I would use if I went with solid rings.

Second question. Once I have bases installed, can I get the solid rings later. I'm assuming the bases are the same. Yes?

The rifle is a sporter rescue 42 Sauer, already D&T.

And no, before it comes up, I'm not going to try to fake anyone this is a real sniper rifle, this is all for my personal enjoyment as a plinker, but even plinkers shuold look good.

my $.02: if I had started w/my “holy grail” scope in hand, I’d have gone w/solid rings, but I wasn’t patient, or feared I’d die before I found a scope I was willing to spend for. Even with a grail scope if the reticle breaks you’ll be $pending some to fix it. I went w/split rings because I didn’t have an appropriate scope & the ‘no future fake factor’. I asked accumounts if their solid rings could be used w/their split ring bases, & the answer was “not necessarily”, without further elaboration. I’m guessing all their product hasn’t been made by 1 subcontractor, or that they’ve had some dimensional revisions over time.

if I had the parts in front of me, I’d try things gently together to see what might fit.

Depends totally on what you plan on doing with the rifle. Simply shooting now & then with the 4x Hensoldt Dialytan then the solid rings. If you have any plans in shooting in Vintage sniper matches then check to see if split rings are ok, if they are not, then your sort of locked into the solid rings. If you ever plan on taking the rifle hunting, then maybe the split ring since you'd be able to simply exchange the Hensoldt Dialytan for a much more higher powered scope and after the hunting is done return the Hensoldt Dialytan. I believe they have spacers of some sort for the rings which will allow the 26.5 rings to accept the USA made scope tubes.
