Very nice. The most scarce coded k98k made in the year of 1942. Really tough to find.

Thanks. It came from Hugh Brock and had been in a collection for 25 years prior to that time.

My God so nice! "Near mint" is an understatement in this case as someone already pointed out. It's SO nice I kept thinking something was up but it appears textbook early '42. Fantastic rifle! Oh and a REALLY nice '42 dated matching bayo with a '42 dated frog? Killer.

Mods, we already have a no letter block '42 about 450 after this one, but I still think this is stickie worthy. OP maybe add photos of the barrel code and RR? I checked and you can make out the RR in photo #1. e/26 x 1

IMO the blank being 'Silesiastahl' from Vereinigte Oberschlesische Hüttenwerke AG just makes it more interesting Gleiwitz being the site of that false flag op. Working every angle to gain complete control.

I had never heard of the Gleiwitz attack before. Thanks for mentioning it, quite the interesting topic to study.

It is to me too. Loewe talks about how banking conglomerates, politico-economic factors, battling trade unionists and communists all effected how industry operated. Not a whole lot on the web about the company but this illustrates how Germany gained such control over these companies even before they crossed the border.

View attachment banking takeover.pdf It's page 5 deals with those assets.

So apparently I'm addicted to trying to nug out steel mills? Anyway 'SilesiaStahl' is tough. I'm still thinking it's a 'trade name' for a type of alloyed barrel steel. Naming barrel steels was a common marketing ploy in the pre and inter-war years. Here's another thing to ponder based on this mechanical calendar. It certainly appears to me the corporate name is small under the banner.
