    Two step process.
Step 1 - Buy and study reference books and attend shows for “in-hand” observation.
Step 2 - Seek advice from sites like this one Before making a purchase. Do your homework.

    Pre war photo card

Most likely a pre-war photo card. I hope that Officer wiped those fingerprints off of that blade before he put the sword away!!

    #MeToo

    My wish for 2019 also.

Thanks again to Santa Waffenmeister for enabling me to buy back that K 43 qve 45 that I sold back in 2009 to buy a new Mustang Bullitt. I regretted selling that mint crisp...
  5. Fake or real

At our show (Allentown, PA) we Police the show for flea market junk (T-shirts, beef jerky, jewelry, etc,) but not for reproduction TR items. I brought this current controversy to the Board of...

The dealer is not banned, only the questionable items are. If the dealer only displays original pre 1945 items there should not be a problem, correct?

Thanks for the compliment. The Allentown show always welcomes militaria dealers and collectors.

    Nice Eickhorn

Nice one! That scabbard has kept that blade minty for the past 70 odd years and will do so well into the future. Just don’t let anyone put their fingers on it!!

The blade looks like it has some pitting on the Eickhorn logo, or just a bad photo?
If it’s pitted you will have a tough time selling it down the road. Offer 750 - 850 imho.

    No honor degen

Yes, upon closer examination I agree. Dr. Peter des Coudres spent some time in the Waffen SS in 1944 and received the German Cross in Gold. He spent 1945-1948 as a POW with the Americans and...

    Unit markings

Maybe 30% with unit markings, famous units commanding a few more dollars. More importantly to me is the condition of the blade. The blade on this one looks a bit dodgy, maybe just a bad photo?

    A dime a dozen

From what I see, $800 - $1100 tops. ..and the scabbard leather should be nice, no tears or missing patches.

    Not following procedures!

Yes, that is what I got out of the second document. From what I read, a lot of senior SS did not buy into this pseudo religious nonsense that v. Knobelsdorff and others at Wewelsburg were promoting,...
