Guys I appreciate all of your comments and all are dead on.
Trolls like this make it tough for collectors when all they care about is profit.
Really sucks. Make me wanna retire my "rack" avatar...
  6. Another PRE98 wannabe - more dealer opportunists - S/147G rises again

    Had to post this up.
I know many of you were watching that auction in Timonium last month.
Well we now know where the S/147G date went - right to GB.

I have no problem with collectors going for...

Thats typical for most of the late production (1934) Banners.
Also see it on late DR issue, almost all of the ChdA issues, very late DRPs, etc.

Actually the stock is not an Oberndorf stock at all.
Cupped buttplate with small takedown disk -- never happened at Mauser.

    takedown K98k

Would love to see some images of your rifle. If verified, perhaps the only example held in private hands.
The two examples in the book are held in the Royal Pattern Room collection in GB.

    'c' block production

Certainly not in May as production ended around April 17, 1945.
Likely sometime towards the last week of production (up to 4.17).

There were quite a few rifles in the production line (both 'b'...

    Oberndorf 1944 production anomalies

  14. Rock Island Auction realized price - word of caution

I recently purchased a K98k from the regional auction for a hammer price of 1600.00.
By the time the final bill arrived it was over 2100.00.

    So here's what you get:

    German market import M937A rifles

Fred there were a large number of the first series contract imported into Germany.
I would assume that the bayonets would have also been bundled with the rifles as Portugal had no use for them.

  19. Light Stripper

Go to your autoparts store and get some Aircraft Peeler.

Farb clued me in on its merits and I recommend it.

Also good for cleaning dirty stocks.

  23. Barrel steel code

    zf41 late war

I would bet that the scopes could be any example manufactured in 1944 and into 1945.
