My Peruvian 1935 short rifle is missing its handguard. Will any of the other countries similar 1935 shorties handguard fit it? I think the Peruvian rear barrel band is thinner than the others maybe. The Peruvian has top wood that reaches all the way the the receiver. Please help. Thanks.

My Peruvian 1935 Short Rifle (FN Mauser 30-06) was purchased by my late Uncle from the Government (pre CMP) back in 1968. He may have paid $40 for it. The Inland M1 Carbine he also got cost $34. My cousin recently gifted both guns to me for continued safe keeping in our family.

Currently my “ can’t possibly be original” G43 magazine pouches are in my safe with the rifle. I’m curious how do folks display their stuff, or is it only pulled out for show and tell?
And do I need a 10” or 12” cleaning rod?
Ok. Shaping the pouches sounds good. I was just concerned about the mags rusting. I’ve always heard storing pistols in leather holsters can lead to rust problems.
