Handguard found

Found a handguard and finished stripping polyurethane and applying first coat BLO.

My Peruvian 1935 short rifle is missing its handguard. Will any of the other countries similar 1935 shorties handguard fit it? I think the Peruvian rear barrel band is thinner than the others maybe. The Peruvian has top wood that reaches all the way the the receiver. Please help. Thanks. Looking.

Currently my “ can’t possibly be original” G43 magazine pouches are in my safe with the rifle. I’m curious how do folks display their stuff, or is it only pulled out for show and tell? And do I need a 10” or 12” cleaning rod?

I would agree with your assessment.

A friend says “Original, my foot!” Says they look to good to be original. Leather should be dry rotted by now. Anyone have a reasonable explanation?

Ok. Shaping the pouches sounds good. I was just concerned about the mags rusting. I’ve always heard storing pistols in leather holsters can lead to rust problems.

Would Storing my G43 magazines in the leather pouches be a bad idea?
