Default Finally Matching 1939 BSW Rust Removed

This K98 was shown here on the 26th September 2012 closet fresh.
I will bring to the top the original Post with photos.
I purchased this from the Vets daughter in Maryland and received her fathers details (seems this was a Vet bring back from Italy as he also brought back Italian money).
I lubed the metal with various oils while I tried to find some Bronze Wool (searched New Zealand and Australia).
I wanted to do it right as this is possibly the only matching BSW in New Zealand. Finally I imported some fine Bronze Wool from Brownells, they have 3 grades.
Recently the day came to clean her. I stripped the rifle carefully and worked the metal with the Bronze Wool soaked in Hoppes.
I wasn't sure it was all rust, it looked like cigarette tar, a quick email to Jane the Vets daughter confirmed that 3 people smoked around this K98.
Anyway, one and a half hours later, this is what I have...

    Enjoy.

    Alister.

    More photos to follow.
PS Just looked at the original site, photos have been removed
