K98 resin hand guard

I've handled one at a show here in the states. It's neat to behold, and the markings aren't unreasonable, but I don't think anyone has turned up documentation on them. Until then....it's just a curio.

It looks okay to me too. But it would likely not be overly difficult to reproduce and $400 is a hefty amount to pay for a part to sit in one's spare parts bin. Don't get me wrong, I like spare parts, but unless one has an original synthetic stock rifle that happens to be missing that part, I think there are better ways to spend that amount.

my bnz 41 with DUROFOL HANGUARD (not resin)

I am member to the FRENCH FORUM « TIR et COLLECTION » (http://www.tircollection.com/), and I have made translated this e-mail by my godchild given that I am not at ease with the English language.

I have a K98 BNZ 41 that I found outfitted with a DUROFOL handguard.

The date « 2/12/41 », written with a pencil, is readable inside of the rifle butt. The weapon number is « 5643D ».

Apparently, the DUROFOL handguard is far-famed on the G43 weapon, but no one has ever seen it on a K98 model.

Pictures are availables on the following link: http://www.tircollection.com/t17490...-main-durofol-photos-avant-et-apres-demontage

It seems to me that the handguard is present on the weapon since many years, and I hope that my k98 is an original model on which the DUROFOL handguard have been tested.

With many thanks,

Very interesting early rifle with a stamped, numbered follower and resin handguard. Both look like they have always been with the piece. Thanks for posting.
