A depot built rifle. That's really neat. The upside down proof is cool.

I posted a friends RC a few months ago, it was bcd41 with sideways proofs.

Yes Sauer, very cool XX (20th) depot build. Bcd 41 receivers are common in these depot build rifles. Thanks for posting it.

These are pretty uncommon this original-matching, really a great score finding one this nice. All the BLM ordnance spare components are neat too..

Although I can't be sure, it looks to have a Czech barrel on it, which is VERY common, "dsh 14 42 Pi" looks to be the barrel code going by what I can see and what is typical of others in this range. They (dsh) are only known to have supplied barrels to depots, at least as far as 98k barrels go, they also made MG barrels, but offhand I do not know the extent to which they supplied them.

hello, yes indeed very intersting ,has your opinion what year of production ,i think 42? thank you

I suspect most of these were probably made in late 1941 or throughout 1942. While most are blank ordnance spare receivers, many are bcd/41 (Astrawerke receivers) and a few bcd/42 receivers are known. Most barrel codes are 1940-1941, but quite a few 1942 dated barrels are known too.

I think they would date to when the armaments crisis seriously was beginning to be felt, around August 1941, that was when it really got Hitler's attention it seems, - he had meetings as early as May 1941 about the armament industry crisis, but the reality of the war in the east really made it a problem they had to address, - and they did in December 1941.

I think they all date to around this time and through the early stages of change during 1942.
