Well here's my 10 cents... 99%+ are fakes there is no doubt. I have one in my collection that has some key features that tend to lead me to think it may indeed be an original. Note the machining on the dovetail and the locking lever slot which matches the typical collar type that is soldered and screwed to the barrel. Also note the stamped "3" on the underside, which is a sight height matching number. Look at many K98, G43 and even MP44 sight parts and you will see single digit numbers stamped which indicate the relative height of the sight component. I believe these numbers were used for fitting rear sight components during weapon assembly and were matched to the gun to correct for variations in elevation during production. These ZF41 sight bases as noted in Law's book had to be matched to each gun independently due to variations. Take a look and I look forward to your comments.
