dot43 in walnut...

Bob in OHIO

Senior Member
This one fits right in my wheel house.

The staining of the wood is most likely from iron in the tree when it was growing.
This has quickly been moving up on my "favorite" list.

dot-43

I have to say thats one purty rifle. I've seen other walnut stocks "lacking" for the lack of a better term no grain to speak of. Just a smokey line running up through the wood.
That stock is as crisp as they get. Thanks for sharing.:hail:

BIO,
That has to be one of the best mid war stocks I have ever seen. A true beauty,congats.:hail::hail:

Unissued, IMO.
The wood is period stained, but never had a top coat of oil to darken the wood...
beautiful open pores etc etc...

Ah, now I know why you turned your nose up at that other  BiO, that thing is smokin. I've never seen one nicer. Pic stickied. What block? h, k ?

Those who might view Brünn I as a second rate manufacturer have obviously never seen a dot 1943 wearing walnut. Be still, my fluttering heart!:hail:

Actually g-block & xmas gift to self.
Speed milled front band, E/135 rear band. The blue is superb and yes, 'dot' did quality work.
I appreciate the thumbs up...

The Brünn I factory was on par with Mauser for quality in my book, and even surpassed them at times. Attached is a first shot report for May of 1944, showing the percentage of rifles that passed first shot for accuracy test in May. Nice rifle Bob, I can see why you like it!

Thats a nice one Bob!!

Would you guys buy a gun just for a stock like this if it was mis-matched??

I passed on a dot43 with this same stock but the whole stock set was mis-matched to the reciever (but matching) and was also a bolt m/m. $600 asking price was too much for me but I wanted that stock!! Easy push thumb take apart too...

..

Wow! Gorgeous rifle!

Looks like BCD was second only to BNZ in that first shot report. I thought they had a better reputation than that.
