dot43 in walnut...

Yes, you will note the more "givernment" was involved in a firm the poorer the quality? (as it always is)

Technically dot/dou were under Rheinmetall at the time (I think the Reichswerke still held the shares as there were no buyers- why would anyone want to buy them with 100% givernment control over raw materials, production, labor and profits- locked at 6% max across the board, as though money meant anything by 1944 in the nazi inspired economy), which was also owned & controlled by the givernment (Speer's Armaments Ministry).

But the Czechs did have their isolation, and conflicting oversight to retain their identity. The ss and German oversight in general (Voss and his team of idiots) was especially inept, and heavily relied upon the quality Czech managers. Who themselves did what they could to minimize the "potential" of the Czech arms industry to Germany.

Making large numbers of rifles, was far less important work than what they were capable of, and by the Czechs own testimony, they bungled many projects and followed orders strictly by the book, no matter how foolish or ignorant, doing no more, nor less, than necessary to keep German hostility and oversight to a minimum (flagrant sabotage would have cost Czechs their lives, and encouraged more oversight, - possibly competent men from Germany)

It is a known fact that dot's early production was comparatively low because of these tactics, and actually shut all rifle production down a couple times early in the war.

Anyway, very nice rifle Bob, - has to be one of the nicer ones still in existence!

Wow! Gorgeous rifle!

Looks like BCD was second only to BNZ in that first shot report. I thought they had a better reputation than that.
