Armourers tools and spare part kits

After the interesting start of the soldiers personal tool thread I would like to start annother thread regarding the armourers stuff.
The armourers are always recruted civil gun makers and there are Waffenmeister ( master) and Gehilfen 8 helpers). That was not uncommon in german military service and the same with taylors,cooks,shoemakers ect.. So there are several different tool boxes. To that the spare part boxes.
Here is the common Waffenmeisterkiste with the big set of tools and gauges.

Here is part 2 with more gauges and gauge and tool cartridges. The cylinders could be srewed on a rod or the cleaning rod to test the barrel calibers and grade of barrel wear.

That is a very impressive kit.

Thank you for posting pics. I dont get to see complete kits, especially of the large variety. The pictures of the large kits have usually had all of the kits tools and guages removed , prior to a collector photographing it.

Germans they still make tool boxes like these, I have worked with the Leopard 2 and the tool boxes that came with them are built the same way.

Here are some more barrel cylinder details and an imperial box. These boxes always would be converted to the current standarts. The manuals are full of orders for doing that. Its hard to find an untouched WW. 1 aera one. On flea markets you always would be lucky in finding tools, pliers, gauges, calipers ect. Often marked with "Luftwaffe", "Wehrmacht", "Heer" or "Kriegsmarine". The boxes are often gutted for other use.

This are the mentioned spare part boxes. Filled with parts for the main guns. Later the boxes where upgraded with G 41 and G 43 and Sturmgewehr parts or new boxes where introduced. The situation never was relaxed with all those captured weapons and for
example aircraft guns converted for ground use.

This is the small armourers tool kit. Mostly stored in MG ammo cans. One can with tools the other with oil and petroleum cans.
