Early dot 1943

Nothing great, just a solid early dot 98. Seems like 1944 dots are considerably more common than 1943s, and there is not an early one in the reference section, so here's an attempt.

Things to note:

  • Clearly orig, though the bolt was factory over-stamped to get it out the door...
  • Front sight blade is indexed & numbered!
  • Rear sight rail is mottled.... weird metallurgy I guess?

I think I have a couple with rear sights like that, with the odd looking bluing underneath.

Beautiful gun!

Nice rifle and pics BiO. We'll pic sticky. I think that "mottling" is a result of occlusions in the steel itself after being milled flat.
