M.40 Luftwaffe ground unit hkp 64 / 12388 green and red brown splotch camo, named, with original cut down chinstrap that's been on the visor for a long time. This is a fairly known pattern using issue colors. It ain't "pretty" but it's an original pattern.

Honest combat helmet.

The liner doesn't show much wear, so I guess it was only used a short while before he was KIA/MIA.

The condition of the helmet indicates it was stored in a dry environment. The liner may have been sweat soaked and darker at one time, but dry conditions will, over time, turn them light, if there have been no oils or treatment added. You can tell by the interior and liner pins, washers, wear, etc., that the liner is original to the helmet. He was probably captured.

My wife is pretty...I prefer my helmets a little ugly...and real..

My great great great grandfather was s Schumacher or (Shoemaker). He fought in the Revolutionary War and was given a land grant for his services.

If you want to part with one of my relative's lids....I will take it. Stop hoarding all these LW camos.
