    This is a pretty tough code to come by. It was a nice Spring day so I thought I would take it out and take some pics. All matching including the band spring !

    Jack- Super example you have & I am happy to see another late one.
    My n-block is one of the last ax40s known by SN IIRC...

    Mine has a '41 dated barrel. The cupped butt plate is '41 and numbered,
    & front sight is cut for a hood....

    Default 27 code 1940 that should be an AX - leftover receiver.

    Here's my matching "L" block with a 27 receiver. Should be an AX code by all rights, must have been a leftover or a previous reject from the parts bin.
    Just a little different. Yes, i'm sorry it's been lightly cleaned, not my doing. Cartouches and #'s still sharp though.
