Found this locally and was at a price I couldn't pass up. I had an idea of the value but was wondering what it was really worth on the market. Love some advice guys.

always a wise decision to buy rigs like that... Nice cyq............

Nice rig. Nice mill marks on the slide. Your pistol was made in May of 1943. Unfortunately Spreewerk does not bring the premium that other p38s bring.

How are the holster and mags marked?

yep under $900 with the holster

looks like some holster wear on front of the slide, need better pictures holster looks well used don't use shoe polish on the scuffed areas leave it alone, also no way of knowing if the mags are original or correct for the gun better pic's around the serial number and safety area and under the barrel and front of the barrel

without better pic's probably under $700

I'd have a hard time paying 8 for it. Depends on the mags though.

I had a smith look at it today and for sure ha no import marking. Was a vet bring back just like my Mauser post. Here are some more pics. This help any?

I would agree with the forum here with a value under $800 with the mags and the holster. P38's haven't really enjoyed the same price trajectory as other German guns from the war and their value has kind of remained static recently. Nonetheless a good addition to any collection.

I really enjoy the early cyq "corduroy" slide look. Lot's of the "b"s and "c"s have this distinctive milling/forging pattern.

Nice pistol. Thanks for posting it. As for value, it's an early cyq, I'd give it $600-700 on the pistol, $100 on the spare mag, presuming original mag, and $150-200 on the holster, also presuming original and nice.

Looks like a very nice CYQ P38. I like it. You might consider running this by the guys at the P38 forum for their opinions and expertise. I like Hambones evaluation and price breakdown the best. His high end would be at the thousand dollar range. Everything looks correct to me, at least from the pics that you show, including the properly marked jvd mags. The holster could be in better condition, but it's not bad, and it does still make for a complete rig--and that adds value. As far as it being a "CYQ"; I believe that things have changed, and they are much more appreciated now. Collectors have discovered more info on them, and they have become more collectable. Prices have risen.
