C.G. Haenal Suhl Gew.98 Rework

1918 C.G. Haenal Suhl Gew.98 converted to K98k specs. I assume this rifle went through more than one rebuild/repair as not all parts are renumbered to match, but have wear consistent with the rifle. The bands are both numbered 4784. The barrel was cut down as opposed to being replaced.

my gew98(m) has the same s/42k on the left side of the rear sight. most ive seen are on the right side.....

Interesting. Nice looking rifle, thanks for sharing.

I really like 1918 dated Gews, too bad there aren't more around. I've never seen a bolt release with more than two digits, I wonder why that one has the full serial?

Could you do a shot of the muzzle end where it was shortened? Great looking rifle, and shortened Gew barrels are not the norm, so it's nice to see a real one.

Looks like a E/359 armorers stock? So I assume this was converted to a 98m in the 30's and then reworked again later in the war, or were these stocks used in the original conversions? Finally, do we known what (if anything) the '3' on the receiver indicates? The depot doing the work, maybe?

Forgive my ignorant questions, but I know almost nothing about these very interesting conversions.

Oh, man, that is very cool!

The only RC I've ever kicked myself for not buying was a converted Gew-98....

That is a killer rifle for any collection, regardless of any mismatched numbers...
