Mauser Banner and Standard Modell Serials and Data,RFV data

Mauser Banner Standard Modell Short Rifle

I have a Mauser Banner Standard Modell Short Rifle, serial number B66440, BUGN commercial proofed on receiver and under barrel, 37 under barrel(year of production??), metal is 90%+, no military markings, bolt is matched to receiver, has 6440 and BU proofs on top of bolt handle stub, wide stock band, and really nice tiger striped walnut stock(replacement) as someone 'sporterized' the original stock many years ago unfortunately..it was a nicely wavy figured walnut stock numbered to the receiver in the barrel channel..no import marks..probably a GI liberated bringback?? Added: bolt is partially bent down but not as much as later military 98K rifles..

I have a mix-master Mauser Banner receiver which was re-barreled in 7.62 NATO and later parkerized. It has the Chinese nationalist sun insignia on both sides of the receiver. I bought it in the late 1980's and it has a mixture of parts, and appears to be in a Spanish stock.

SN is 1922 with no visible prefix or suffix.

I assume the purpose of this is to record the serial number for the study, since my rifle is only a shooter at this point. Hopefully I'm posting this in the right place.

Regards,

Andy

Despite having the Mauser Banner on the receiver, your rifle is neither a "Banner Modell" or a "Standard Modell". It is a Chinese export K98k, and these rifle have their own SN range.

Yessir. I get that. I'm including it here since they are listed. (as below)

Mauser Banner B62050

I spotted this one today in a local shop, Banner B 62050, matching numbers including the bolt but the bolt appears to be a replacement. Stock is inletted for a side sling and cut for turned down bolt handle. Marked for Bundesgrenzschutz (BGR) on receiver, stock under receiver and left side of butt. No take down disk or visible proofs. BUGN on receiver but not on top of bolt. Circle Z on bolt root and circle A on underside of safety.
Any collector value? Dealer asking $1,300.

That sounds interesting. I'd love to hear some thoughts from the more knowledgable members.

Banner K unmarked stock

I just purchased a Mauser Banner K dated 1934 #87681 with a diamond proof mark. the stock has no stamp etc. Bolt appears to be a renumbered imperial bolt, floor plate mismatched, all other numbered parts match.
I'm assuming this was an SA rifle since police would have had property markings?

This one is currently listed on Century Arms. It's a bolt and rear sight mismatch. Little pricey for the condition IMO, but I would consider it if it were a little bit lower

I posted a separate thread yesterday on my Banner K 1933 DR that I should have posted here. Hopefully it has some useful information.

Posted this on Gunboards SN sticky and no traction as of yet so, repost here.

Just acquired a Chinese contract Banner,

SN: C19762 with the Chinese Nationalist symbol before the serial number. There is a 29 below the symbol. Both barrel and receiver have these marks/SN. Rifle is a bolt mismatch but otherwise all matching as far as I can tell (haven't had it out of the stock yet). Trigger guard and floor plate are 19762 C marked. Rear sight ramp, sight leaf, lower band, upper band are 9762 marked. Rear sight slider and detent, bayonet lug and the heads of both guard screws are 62 marked. Ejector housing is hard to read, could be a bad strike as it looks like 07 if not 62.

At this point I know the follower is not matching (735) and the bolt is a later Nazi Proofed, matching itself "268 a" with J.P Sauer components with 214 and 37 WaffenAmts.

I'll get it out of the wood over the holidays and report on the stock, hand guard, trigger/sear. Given the matching guard screws, I think the wood will be matching as it has remnants of the Mauser banner below the take down disk on the left side and remnants of two Nationalist Chinese symbols below the take down disk on the right side. What has me stumped is this is a flat buttplate laminate stock and handguard. The front sight is not grooved for a hood.

This is a CAI import marked gun. Surprisingly, it has a decent bore and tight muzzle.

Standard Modell sn# B83073
sidewall, Standard Modell
Came in a cutdown walnut K98k style stock (no indication of ever having a bottom mount sling) with matching sn in the barrel channel.

Standard Modell sn B58216
Not matching, I guess russian rebuilt
S/42 1936 erased, difficult to spot
I show you the matching parts only

I found this Banner Standard Modell 1924 dated 1934 on Guns. Com. It's my first Banner Mauser. It's all matching including the stock with a mismatched straight bolt that looks to have originally been on a GEW 98. Did the 1934 models have straight or bent handle bolt? I'll post more pictures after I clean up the stock and steam out the dents.

I believe all Standard Modells originally had straight bolts. Some very few late Standard Modells that were diverted to the military can be found with matching turned down bolts, but they appear to have been straight bolts that were modified either at the factory or depots for military use.

Your SM is pretty early and would definitely have had a factory straight bolt. I look forward to seeing more pictures, especially the barrel markings.

The e/655 conversions were done at Oberndorf. The other full K98k conversions were likely police depot converted and not done at any Heer facility.
