God I love this rifle Hambone!! I remember oogling over it on gunboards. I love G29o's, I hope to find one some day.

Thanks Beswick, you certainly have nice trade bait that could get it out of me when the newness and novelty wears off ;)

sling

I have been looking for a sling for mine for over 5 years....

I assume the sling was on the rifle when you bought it. Not a lot of info on these. Great to see pics of the important spots.

Jack, that is invariably how slings for these are found, with the rifles they come on. I've seen maybe one or two sold on their own. One was sold on epay years back with the swivels still on it for some ridiculous sum of money. Of course, someone else, not us, will find one in the "Everything $1.00" junk box on Pawnshop Bob's funshow endcap table on Sunday afternoon. He will have talked Pawnshop Bob down to 60 cents just for sport.

I knew HB had a nice one of these!:hail:

The wood on these is so beautiful, it's such a shame mine had the sh!t sanded out of it.

My friend just took his off gunbroker. Had it there for a couple months with not so much as a bite. Bolt and rear band m/m and a split in the handguard. I know nill about these or I would pick it up off him. Stunning looking rifle with the proof marks on them. Ham's rifle looks top notch.

Hey Mow, can you give us a link to the closed auction, we'd love to see it.

Its been up 9 or 10 times J. Seems like you find these either really nice or pretty worn. Not much in the middle regarding condition. I think the renumber, as is, plus the reserve kept people away.

MJA:

Thanks! I don’t search much anymore as I’m not typically in the market. I look for 33/40’s and 98/40’s to collect pics and serial data but I usually miss the bulk of auctions.

It isn’t a bad rifle, certainly far more desirable than a lot of the stuff that does sell. But, I agree, the market for a not complete or not perfect 29o seems to be very small indeed.

I have watched this rifle may times waiting for maybe a price drop it is a pretty worn/been there rifle which i like. I also held out for a confirmation that the serial on the receiver matched the rest of the rifle. then after a few bids i believe that the 600 was not the min bid i had a hard time guess what the Reseerve was. eventully it will sell i watch for G29 (o)'s all the time. what is the reserve?? if not sharing not a problem. looking for trades?? i have a all matching but bolt CE44??

Yes, that was entertaining. Interestingly the 945, 1940 sold by the same seller went for $200 less than it sold for 4 years ago. The 945, 1940 was a "ranchill" rifle. Ranchill is a Cincinnati dealer that sold quite a few higher end pieces out of a collection a few years ago.

Did anyone else think the bluing on that one looked suspect? The bluing on the receiver in particular looked fishy to me.
