    Default Mauser S/42 1936 5366 b

While not mint, it is very nice and has much of it's original blue including the fire bluing on the screws. The only detraction is the rear band area where some ham fisted GI tried to remove the VERY stiff spring, which I have still not been able to remove (can't get the front band off!). I do have photos of the inside of the hand guard from the previous owner. What's neat is the hand guard is waA63 stamped on top, same stamp/size it appears as on the wrist of the stock. Sling came with it, early transitional type with more "closed" type holes than the standard tear drop shape. It's WaA101 marked and dated 1935. Blue overall is about 95%+. It was used, but not abused. I am a very happy camper. Comments welcome.

    Gerard:
Beautiful rifle! Those 1936 dated ones seem especially hard to find.
    Good find.

Gerard, I don't know how you can't say it is mint. That wood and those markings are pristine
    Congrats.

The lower band is a distractor, but that is still a very nice rifle.
