I buy capture paper guns
Staff member
While everyone was talking about the $700 RC rifles, I picked up this bolt MM on gunbroker for less than that. I needed a shooter and I think this Walnut BYF 43 fits the bill. Its a true bolt mismatch that apparently lived its life in a veterans closet. Someone was a little rough disassembling it. Also came with a cleaning kit. Never had a WW2 cleaning kit, kind of cool to see how they work. Not much more I can ask for in a shooter. I pulled the handguard off and it matched, too lazy to pull it out of the stock right now.

The bolt is a D block, I think it is an FN bolt? I know I see the MI mark on my High Powers. Is this from a BYF44? Or would it be right from the BYF43? If only there was some type of book that would contain this information. :behindsofa: Kind of interesting it ended up with a bolt same letter block and last two digits.

very nice closet fresh rifle. FN bolts start showing up in 42 or maybe even real late 41. They can always be id by the markings FN used.

Looking at the bolt again its a correct bolt and even in the same letter block with the last 2 digits matching ! possible it could have even been a factory error ??

Great pickup !!!!

Nice looking rifle.

Is the extractor numbered? Could help narrow the tomeline.

Also markings on the cocking piece?

Apparently no one has time for junk like this with Classic blowing out genuine counterbored RCs.. :googlie

Seriously very nice rifle. Great score!
