A Star on Mauser 98K

Greetings gentlemen.
I got such Mauser 98k...With the star on its receiver, after listening to a number of theories, I have not lost hope to hear a clear answer to the question:what does this star means? (I have to say, that this Mauser is not from a Soviet storage...)
Manufacturer is 42(Oberndorf) produced in 1940.
I really hope that K98k experts can help me to get a clear answer.

That looks a lot like the French marking used on post war assembled rifles they got out of the Oberndorf Mauser plant.

It's the same star. Used on chilean 1935 too.

Yes, looks like the same star marking seen on many 1935 Chilean contract parts. Perhaps some previously inspected Chilean export receivers made there way into German military Oberndorf production?
