First purchase of 2017.
A nice DSM 34 in overall good condition with matching numbers. I guess one from the early years? I hope someone here can determinate the exact year.
Stock looks very shiny on the photo's but is goog looking in real.

This is a later 1st type dsm34 by Mauser. Serial # 8,xxx would place it later in the run.

This still as the early features IE all small parts numbered which was phased out later.

The next changes were what's called now the DSM36.

I can look in the back of Speeds book for a date of manufacture when I get home tonight. Im guessing 1935

I looked it up in Jon Speed's book and it fell into 1934. According to the book the serial range for that year went up to 15243. The approximate start for the 1935 year was serial number 15640. There should be a new book coming out on training rifles some time this year.

This design was approved by the first of the 1934 year (after some design changes were made to prototypes made in 1933) and Mauser doubtless was manufacturing some PRIOR to the April 1934 "availability date" for selling them to customers. Their records track production by their FISCAL YEAR which ended in September, and since they show almost 11,000 DSMs turned out by September of 1934, there is no doubt that this one was made prior to that date. It was also almost certainly SOLD and IN USE somewhere by this date, rather than sitting in "on hand" inventory awaiting sale and delivery.

Thursday i went to the shootingclub for testing the Dsm34. It works fine and good. In attachement some detailled pictures of the stockdisc. Does anyone knows what this markings could mean? As you can see there's some little rust on it but it has his charmes leaving it this way.

Recently i've added 2 beautifull ammoboxes to complete the display off this trainer. Both with content and from the same ammoplant.
- One is made for military use and dated 1940
- The other one is for civil use/sale and is still sealed. This one is dated 1942. The pencil markng is from the previous owner. I'll remove it soon.
The inkstamps show us the date off fabrication. I don't have the list to decode them.
