Hard to improve on that one. Simply beautiful!
Still wonder what happened to it's sling? It obviously wore one until the recent past.

Held it at the meeting, very nice rifle. Love Gustloff bluing and love mixed finishes. Hard to beat.

Nice looking example. I like the crisp stock and the dual tone. Thanks for posting.

Thanks guys. Glad I bought it and did not save the money for SoS! Always buy what is in front of you.

All of the different parts manufacturer's codes are interesting. Here are some assorted photos.

This is probably a dumb question and I am sure the answer is in Volume 3 (which I am about to read the chapter on Gustloff)....... but when these different components were made were they sent to Gustloff were they already blued? Or did they send them in the white? I am assuming they sent them finished. They would have filled up bins and just grabbed bolt bodies. So there would be some blue ones literally in the bottom of the barrel that may have taken them a while to get to when they dumped phosphate finished bolts on top of them. Is this correct?

Nice one! :)

Barrel made by:

Ruhrstahl A.G., Presswerke Brackwede ( near the City Bielefeld)

Interesting firm for sure. I believe first wire guided missiles were conceived/invented there. Are they still in business? current.JPG

Great rifle! I think you scored a very nice example. It's my understanding that's exactly what happened. It makes total sense too. Some firms were apparently more lax which led to longer changeover times. Certainly some were much more anal about emptying their bins before adding new incoming components. Gustloff often had multiple manufactures for the same part too so that must have played a role in the mixing of components.

They don't come much nicer that that. I too have one, but my bolt is phosphate with the bands, cocking piece, extractor, mag follower, rear sight, and trigger guard blued. Mine is about 10,000 earlier, with the broken die for the firing proof still in use, its hard to see on yours but it looks like they had changed to a new die.
