Question on a marking on a Inf Gew.71

Since the question was asked I figured I'd post it separately to see if there was an answer.

What does this stylized H marking indicate? I've only seen it on Steyr produced I.G.71 and Kar.71. And then not on every one they made. My sampling is small but the dozen rifles I've observed with this marking are 1875 and 1876 dated.
