Model K98K questions from a 98 Newbie

Hi All, I just recently joined your great forum, I have been collecting rifles for over 40 years.
In the last few years I have gotten interested in WW2 rifles and memorabilia.
Not sure why it took me that long but better late then never.

I have a Danish Garand ,and just recently purchased a Model 98 Rifle from a fellow who told me that his father was a sergeant
in the Army had brought it back with him from the war.

I have done a lot of reading and I still am not certain if the rifle is authentic and also a little confused about the Date, Maker marks and serial number.
From what I can determine the rifle is a 1943 build from Mauser of "byf"Obendorf.

Although the Barrel itself has a 42 marked on it and the Waffenamt. there also several other Waffenamt on the metal and stock.
All of the parts have matching numbers except the barrel. Also the front rifle stock has been cut , Duffel cut?
Front band has been installed in reverse, front barrel band spring is missing.

I could only attach a few pictures. More pictures to follow.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Looks good from what I see. Appears to be a no letter block early 1943 rifle. Serials were omitted from the barrel, 42 is the year of production of the barrel and is acceptable on a early 1943 produced rifle.

Welcome Tony. :happy0180:

As the guys posted, your byf 43 looks completely matching and correct from the pictures you provided. Looks like a nice, combat carried vet. Lots of character there.

Gentleman, thanks for all the info.
When researching this rifle.
Although there was a ton of information
I still tried to be very cautious before I
Purchased it.
I will try to post more pictures .
Thanks for the info and the warm welcome
Tony

It looks good. I noticed the dented trigger guard. Second one I've seen this year, nearly identical. I think you grabbed a nice first rifle.

I added a couple more pictures,

The Front stock were the duffel cut is located ?

A better picture of the Barrel date stamp.

And the Butt stock stamping , Looks to be a brg stamping?

Thanks,
Tony

Brg is the code for the subcontractor that made the butt plate. It's common.

If you were to remove the barreled action from the stock, you'll see more to the barrel code. They start with the year, then a letter designating the manufacturer. Then more digits designating the lot number. Here is an example on my byf43:
