Probably a valid point......

Ha ha, very funny. Now where are our REAL rifles?
Italy sent a bunch of surplus 7.35mm Carcano carbines to Finland as military aid against the USSR – these Finns are pulling them right out of the shipping crates (note the “KAL 7/35” on the crate lid). The Finns took pride in their marksmanship, and can’t have been particularly impressed with the Carcanos’ short barrels and fixed sights. The middle fellow facing the camera looks particularly grouchy about the whole affair.

Very cool pic for research. The M1938 SR was a good solid rifle. Those chaps were going to mainly be guarding prisoners, warehouses and soup, so those far exceeded their requirements.

Neat Photo. I love Hambones' soup guard rifle description! The SA-Kuva archive is loaded with great photos like that.

Some of the images I've saved from SA-Kuva show M-39's in use. I think they are from the continuation war period though. I would have to go back and check some for more details. The last one of the AA-gunners shows a rifle hanging from the front wall of the compartment. Not an M-39, but still neat photo!
