I'd like to make an offer on this RC, but don't know where to start. I'm concerned about the band's with screws and no bayonet lug. It has the importer info on the right front barrel. Will try to get better pics.

I just realized that the stock is semi-kriegsmodell. I forgot how the Russians mixed parts up.

From what you show it doesn't look too bad, of course being an R/C it will be a mixmaster but if that's a legit kriegsmodell stock that alone makes it interesting. Nothing wrong with R/C guns at all, they have their place.

Any advice on how much to offer? It's an estate item not quite available yet. I'm thinling 500 or so.

RC

Well from the pictures it is hard to be exact as they are rather poor quality, but that said, the lower band looks like it is of the milled type and not the stamped type. I have never seen the milled type with a screw in it like that. Just the stamped and welded type. The blueing looks to good too. Must have been "up graded" by the previous owner. Still, if the bore is good, should make a great shooter. Good luck!

Yes very hard to suggest a bid just on the pictures they sent you here, if you can get more that would sure help.

Although it's not easy to tell from the photo I wondered if this stock had been shortened as I think I can see the barrel step in front of the end of the stock.

I will take more pics today. I lightened the receiver pics to see the serial better.

I would go 400-450 MAX on it. It's pretty rough, and I'm not sure about that stock. It's not a true semi-kriegsmodell I don't think, but going FOR the rifle is the fact that they did not peen out the WaA eagles on the barrel or receiver. If it locks up tight it might be a good shooter, so start off below 450 and work up. It's tough to fairly appraise anything without it in hand so remember: it's value is whatever it's worth to the SELLER AND BUYER. This is the kind of K98 that you could have a lot of fun shooting though and get the full experience and enjoyment without risking damage to a pristine safe-queen! I think such rifles have a place in every collection. (I bought a Chinese K98 copy from the same importer in the late 1980's or so for just that reason!)

Finally was able to buy this rifle for $400, which I think is a fair price. The semi-kreigsmodell stock was taken off and I cleaned a lot of Russian grease off below the wood. Stock channel had a marking I couldn't read. See pic. Going to shoot it tomorrow.

Stock is a semi kreigsmodell, it lacks the provision/ cut out for a band spring.

I don't know RC prices in the USA, but I know this. Neither band is a correct late war band. They have just been made to work by the Russians. Same with the screws I believe.

I think mostly it's the same as here. If it has an ok bore and is out together well, it's a $4-500 gun. Good for shooting and some learning.

You are correct. They filled the Kriegsmodell front band hole and put a screw into the hole where the bandspring on the regular band goes.

Yes I think 400 is a decent price for this. The juxtaposition of a late stock configuration with a 1936 receiver is interesting! Let us know how it shoots.

Shot it on Sunday. At 50yds it shoots a little high and slightly to the right. Once I got all the Russian grease out of the bolt and chamber, it cycles fine.
