just wondering i just picked up 3 G98/40 rifles none have been sporterized 2 have matching numbers,1 has mismatched bolt, how rare are these and what might the value be ?

Post some photos and you will get much better answers.

Mismatched G98/40 rifles go for about $500-1,000. Matching examples can go anywhere from $900 to $3,000. Lots of variables at work. If I were going to give you an average amount for a mismatched bolt G98/40 it would be around $800 and fully matching around $1,800.

Depends on the year, condition, etc. Pictures would say more on what you have.

As for rarely their not commonly seen, went too the NGD show today and there was one badly mismatched example there.

For the rarest one, I believe the 42 marked ones are the hardest too find only 32,000 produced in that year. The year of 1943 is the most common, 41 is hard too find, and 44 depends on what letter block.
