German attic-found time capsule

Just incredible the stuff that is still tucked away over there. This was destined for the landfill, but was saved from that fate. Everything belonged to 2 brothers, most of it to the one who was a Panzergrenadier and a few items to the other who was in the Luftwaffe. Both survived the war, but both have now passed on. Now after all these years this is all that has survived to show for their time in the war. Sobering to see this little group and realize that it is all that represents almost a decade of personal struggle for these soldiers. No other stories or experiences recorded, or anyone who even wanted to still own what they had set aside as a reminder of that time.

Add any details that you see from your knowledge, or if anyone wants to see further pictures of anything just ask.

Outstanding collection!

Apparently they flew most mission with a Heinkel He111 but they obviously also used war spoils such as the Douglas DC3.
Of interest is flight #87 which lasted only 90 minutes but stretched over 530 km. This is an average speed of 221 mph, taking into consideration lower speeds during take-off and landing, the maximum speed would have been close to 230 mph which is right at the DC3's limits. Looks like they beat the crap out of their war loot.

An amazing find but so very sad that neither gentlemen had any family to pass this on to.I bet there's lots of stuff stashed away and forgotten about.A friend of mine used to work in demolition and always got on housing sites early to search the attics and cellars and found some wonderful militaria.

I'm glad someone saved this! Probably disappears on an almost daily basis now that almost all have left this world. Thank you for sharing it with us and those are some really good photos too.

Amazing lot.. I love seeing stuff like this.. Un-touched and in great shape.. WHat's neat is seeing the photo of him wearing the awards then the same awards wrapped around the photo !

That He111 sectioned drawing in Russian is something Ive never seen ?? I wonder its purpose ?
