Well there you go! Thanks Luc, not much better than period photos to show at least who may have used them.
 
Very nice Bill! Use per what Luc said, and cited with a period pic ;) Kept the adjuster ears from digging into the back and tearing the uniform, etc., while bumping on a horse or motorcycle.

I assume all of the canvas type covers you see a lot on ebay lately are fake/postwar?
Are there any known examples of the green/blue canvas covers that were used (pre)WW2?
 
I mean the canvas version of the rearsight protector like the one from the first post.
Often advertised as being used by DAK.

No doubt for the DAK Kamel Korps. AFAIK the same as the so-called "paratrooper holsters" which have appeared everywhere.
 
Yep, most are sold as honest repro's though, but i was just wondering if there are any pre/post-wartime photo's that show an original rearsight protector that is not completely made out of leather.
Not necessarily german.
