P38 ac41

Purchased my first P38 last week. All the small parts are 359 Waffenampt and all original finish (high gloss blue).

I wonder if there is a possibility to find out to which branch/division/person it was distributed...

In a simple word: no
There are certain weapons that can be traced to a particular Branch. P38s were seen in every branch and front.
Does it have a matching mag?

Your new ac41 appears to be a beauty !
These early ac's show very nice fit and finish.
Love the "ac" on the trigger guard web.

Pity. The Belgian army used markings on their guns for the indication of their unit. Not only in their army but also for the civil guards and fire brigades (each city had a different letter combination). Not sure if they were still using these markings at the start of WW2.

No, the pistol came with a mauser magazine. The previous owner is trying to find a Walther magazine.
In the mean time I trying the matching mag or spare mag for this pistol. But it's really like trying to find a needle in a haystack.
