Matching byf42 in Walnut Project Rifle Complete

I got this rifle a few months ago on Gunbroker for the price of a low end bolt mismatch. The rifle had some parts that had been chrome plated and just looked horrible (barrel bands, bayo lug, rod, floorplate, bandspring, butt plate screws). I sent the parts off for the plating to be removed then sent those parts to Bruce to be reblued. All other parts of the gun have very nice original bluing. The end result is very nice. I remember asking to see how it turned out and it looks fantastic IMHO! Seems like you made a small gamble and it paid off. Certainly was a worthy candidate and I'm glad to see you were able to bring it back to this level.

Great job ! glad to see you were finally able to get it done. Plating can be removed by a reverse plating technic just like when they
re-chrome a car bumper. Then blue without any polishing of the metal..

Wow that's nice! Every individual part looks great.

That looks scary good, for real. If I didn't know the history of this gun, I wouldn't suspect a thing had ever happened. That's good bluing.

I don't think I would be able to tell the difference either. If I stare at it long enough, I start to "think" I can see a difference between the barrel bands (reblue) and barrel (orig), but the triggerguard (orig) and floorplate (reblue) are spot on. Someday I will likely sell this rifle making sure to tell the story like it is. But for now it's staying part of my trio of byf42s

This is an excellent example of someone who can see a rifle for what it can be, instead of accepting it for what it is with it's repairable flaws. I love to see a restoration job done right. With some patience and effort to find the right people with the right skills, a nice rifle rifle was restored to it's former glory. Well done.
