A friend picked up a SA marked Gustloff kkw yesterday, it came with a common used 1940 matching bayonet and frog, frog is marked Volkshon on the front and upside down with a eagle that looks like the swaz was punch out, the back is unmarked, anyone ever seen this before?

Looks like the eagle on police holsters. I see a hole poked there a lot, maybe for display on a nail?

Volksohn looks too fresh, the eagle is most real a problematic stamp, on backside should be a correct maker producer and date, as seen on leather it mostly removed because of surface of the piece.Photos would help here.b.r.Andy

Angled or even completely inverted makers' stampings on frogs do show up occasionally. That said, I don't like the looks of this one at all. Original frog with spurious stamps added in my opinion.

What would the financial gain of putting fake stamps on a frog be?

Police property eagle on frog and holster shown looks like on the frog had the common letter often found under right wing like C,B,D etc That one I can't make out I can't authenticate it but you can find it on just about all police equipment even on S84/98 stamped in blade spine and muzzle curve on hilt. Very worn one on s84/98. timothy

Could You provide the backside detailed photo, where normally would be maker stamp? b.r.Andy

When so tired leather as on front side, so the maker on backside is already not visible, You should look with magnifying glass and on sunny day the backside once again.b.r.Andy
