Wanted to post a few photos of my Kar88. It's on the rough side in good shape mechanically and all matching. Not sure what happened to the sling bar. I will work on getting the barrel code in the next few days.

Thanks for posting here Sam! I added it to the ongoing study at the top of the forum, a nice addition I have to say too! I like the unit very much...

Although that study doesn't cover bolt FP and acceptance, it would be helpful to see the underside of the bolt flat, to see the fireproof and acceptance stamp. I do trend these things 1888-1945 and it would be helpful to see yours. Some of these early Imperial FP are very distinctive and in time i hope to have a good grasp of which FP can be tied to which makers. This carries over to M98 variations too and even interwar and NS eras also, but this early phase they are most distinctive to each maker, though offhand the Suhl consortium probably have less distinctive characteristics.

Paul, I thought I had a picture of the FP for the bolt handle. I will have to take a photo, it looks just like the one on the barrel. Attached are photos of the barrel code, and underside of the receiver. I will put photos of my 1915 VCS next to kt because it’s marked similarly. I noticed the FPs look like interwar Simson FPs.

That's a nice carbine...I have 4 rifles ...maybe I should start looking for one to go with them..

Thank you, this is the first "Commission" weapon I've owned. I've been looking for a Gew 88 for a while, most of the ones I've seen are in poor shape.
