Finding loose Kar.98a stocks is very difficult, there are several actions for every available stock and stocks and handguards typically are worth more than the metal. Finding the right stock is even more difficult, plus there is fit issues, I have never encountered a Kar.98a action that could be "plopped" into another stock, they never fit right without adjustment, which means altering the stock and handguard. These rifles more than any other are handcrafted when it comes to stock fitting. I believe reproductions are available, I know handguards have been made before (required fitting) but I have also seen more recent reproductions.
