Was very happy when I found this early S84/98 bayonet on last weekends gunshow. This one have seen some duty time, but is still in original nice condition.
The prizes on bayonets starting to get insane in Scandinavia also, and the competition is getting harder and harder. Everyone seems to collecting bayonets these days, but in a way thats nice also:thumbsup:

Interesting early Mundlos, in that range were reported pieces with A proof, so this could be from b range, serialed later.b.r.Andy

Thanks for feedback guys! But, I do not understand what a later serialed B-range is? Do they make them in two batches? Regards Arvid

OK, so the bayonets were given a serial number in batches of 10,000, or more precisely 9999 for each year. As each quantity of 9999 was reached, the subsequent manufacture would have the next alphabet letter as a suffix; eg. 9999b would be followed by 0001c.
Generally the first batch of 9999 were not added with the suffix "a", simply the number. It was also the case that once 9999z was produced the numbers would then be given a double suffix of 0001aa and so it went on.....

I hope that explains the system for you simply enough.

regards,
Peter.

Yes, I know the use of suffix and serialnumbers, but I have seen S244G bayonets with the letter "g" on other sites, and belived Andy meant something else? Probably only me who have misunderstood.

I mean a special proof A on pommel, as PWCO should have similar piece in the range, Thanks for adding link.b.r.Andy
