this piece came in to the daylight when I was collect a bayonet that i just have buy. "do you collect k98 karabiner" he say - now it is mine.

Wow, impressive rifle. It's a difficult year (1942) to find in matching original condition. Good find.

Agreed. I see the machine work and finish is already going down at Steyr. Some pictures of the wood stamps when you get a chance perhaps? :thumbsup:
 
That's a typical marking in wartime Steyr barrels, some kind of inspection mark, it isn't VOPO.

Very nice rifle. 1942 dated rifles are tough to find (especially for Russian stuff). Thanks for sharing.
 
Very nice! I have 4484 C! Interesting that you have speed milled bands and mine has H-bands considering they are only ~2200 rifles apart. What type of stock does yours have?

Hi Gents. I cant find/see any mark on the outside but on the inside.

according to robert jensen ar42 and bnz42 were the least produced k98ks that year and each code not seen past the L block. has anybody seen an N block or later?

Never seen past L block on either to date, but dou42 was the lowest number for 42 at about 93000 with BLM coming in second at about 103,000. Steyr made about 122k and MB made about 115k.
 
We've learned a lot in the last 15 years or so.
