Just made a trade for this little gem, haven't went to pick it up yet but it's mine. I've read about these until I was crosseyed, but still feel I know nothing about them, there are just so many variants. Hoping you guys will look at the pics and tell me what I have.

Nice!

Very nice. As you can tell, it's a Model W625B marked by the SA Gruppe Kurpfalz. There is a lot of information on the German smallbore rifles in the Simpson book recently published. You might consider getting a copy. :) BTW, should be a good shooting rifle as well.

They really are great shooters. Check to see if the bolt matches. There are many models of the Model W 625 series. I have all but one, which I hope turns up one day. It is a Model W 625z with a circular BSW logo.

It appears to be in original unmolested condition. No dufflecut, all numbers match, bore is excellent, functions and fires like it's supposed to. I took the buttplate off, it has a piece of steel barstock inside the buttstock. I'm assuming it's there for weight from the factory? Also, on the right side of the barrel where the proofmarks are it says 5.3mm. All others I've seen say 5.4mm

The bar in the butt stock is there for weight. I hope you post pictures as they are one of the rifles I collect. They tend to be great shooters in my experience.

It's a shooter for sure, even with my old eyes I have no problem dialing it up and ringing my 100yd gong. I'm still kind of puzzled about the 5.3mm stamping on the barrel. I measured the bore at the crown, with my dial calipers I got .21

5.3mm vs 5.4mm ?

All you collectors out there, why is this one marked 5.3mm instead of 5.4 ? From what I can gather 5.4mm is pretty much standard on these rifles.

Someone will correct me if I am wrong, but my understanding is that the 5.3 is a carryover of the older gauge markings.

If you measured the bore as .210" , that converts to 5.33mm. That means a 5.3 gauge will fit, but a 5.4 gauge will not.

Some of the gauge numbers can get awfully troublesome, especially working with less common variants and smaller gunmakers.
