37 Rich Herder

Ugly, but not too common. Only one I ran across since I have been collecting. Pommel and scabbard finish is trashed, throat screw is wrong, but the blade is OK and it is a matching 37 Rich Herder. I seem to be having a difficult time filling in blanks in the Rich Herder category.

Hi
Early 1937 Richard Abraham Herder with plastic/bakelit grips?
Could be a wartime replacemant, but who knows?
I´ll show mine this evening, it has wooden grips and is untouched since ´45.
Regards

It is possible Andy. I cannot make up my mind. Even if I knew for a fact it was reblued, I would have bought it. I have not seen another for sale. It definitely goes on my 'needs upgrade' list. Fortunately, the price was not outrageous.

Most everything I am missing is in the upper S code range. I am told there are no known examples of some of the K codes in the S/238 to S/242 range. At some point I will 'blank' them on my matrix. I just did not want to give up without a struggle.

The Herders (Rich and F.) have presented the most trouble for me. Of the 26 examples I feel I am missing, 9 fall among those two makers. When I saw the 37 pop up on eBay, I snagged it quickly.

I look forward to it. I love nice pre-war examples. I hope I do not drool on the monitor when you post it.

Couldn´t find it yet, shame on me! But as a small appetizer here is an 37 F.W.Höller.
Frog is from Lagesa Dresden, strap is damaged.

K codes

I probably should have been a little more specific. There are two 242Ks posted at k98.free.fr. 239K is not posted there. I am not seeing a 238, 240, or 241. If anyone has one, I would love to see it.

The higher 23x and 24x are evidently too late for starting large production in 1934, so most real they wouldnt exist probably as the factories only prepared for production, but possibility exist that some of it are still anywhere in very small numbers.
S238K no reports
S/239K exist
S/240K no reports
S/241K no reports
S/242K exist
S/244 K no reports
S/245K no reports
