Grips are certainly replacements, should be dark plastic, nice frog bky? 40 possible or other code.b.r.Andy

Interesting bayonet! I think the markings on the frog is "cky40". I have at least two frogs with the stamp "cky41" in my Collection.

changed grips

I agree. The changed grips are a problem. You should ship it to me immediately so you do not sully the reputation of your collection.

Kidding of course. Nice find. I certainly would have snagged it if I ran onto it.

Great !!!!!

Before change the grips check if the wood grips wear any kind of WaA serial number etc......, most probably are replaced but I have theses photos from the web of an bayonet very close to yours one that it has wood grips too

When i look at end of screw on the bayonet so they were filled to flat, certainly not correct, prior this time is no reports of wood grips on 40 cvl, anyway when correct, so it should be proofed and assembly serialed as typical for 1940.b.r.Andy
This is the same digit 5887j,so same bayonet probably.
