How does it look? My only concern is the marking of the number “1” on the floor plate. What do you guys think? Supposedly all matching. Besides serial numbers in the stock, what else should I look out for? Should there be markings on the buttplate?

Thanks!

The correction of the '1' on the triggerguard is not a big deal, errors and corrections like that are very common on 43-45 dated guns.

The problem with this one appears to be the stock. Pics don't show much, but what I see looks like it may have been sanded and refinished.

Stock wasn’t number matching, so I didn’t inquire about the price. What are some good tips for spotting a stock refinish?

Rounded edges on the sling and bolt cutouts, missing stock acceptance, shiny appearance, etc. You first need to familiarize yourself with what an untouched stock looks like. I would recommend the pic reference section for examples of untouched rifles. Study them and compare it to the example you are considering purchasing.

The byf 43 f block featured in the pic reference has some excellent pics of Mauser Oberndorf bolt cutouts if you want to study those.
