Correct magazine for ac44?

Thanks. I realized after I had posted. Duh.

here is the side of proof markings, not scarce but the condition was.

USPS tracking tells me that my Danish G43 magazine should be arriving very soon. Yippy!
But now I am wondering if it is possible to make this poorly functioning reproduction magazine I have been using actually work? Most of the issues I can see have to do with the follower. Has anyone every tried, or maybe heard of, replacing the bad follower in a reproduction magazine with an original G43 magazine follower and made a usable magazine out of the combination?

Wait until you get the Danish mag, then start replacing parts of the poorly functioning mag with Danish parts until it works. This will tell you were the problem lies.

Unless you have a lot of time on your hands to fiddle with it, I wouldn't bother combining parts. You can find another original that will function perfectly as a spare. You CAN use the mag spring from the repop, you may need to bend it/ reform it a little.

well, at least someone is thinking today. It sure ain't me. Good idea. Thanks.

Do you mean I can find another original magazine or follower? No way I can afford a magazine anytime soon. I’ve seen followers though I might be able to get.

Well, my Danish magazine finally arrived today. Here is what it looks like.

Of course, the first thing I did was load the magazine with some PRVI FMJ's and tried to manually cycle them to see how it did. I have to say, I was a little disappointed. The very first round failed to feed properly and the bolt pinned the round against the forward edge of the magazine.

This happened on every right side round. Here you can see how soon the nose of the right side round makes contact with the edge of the magazine and how the rear of the cartridge drops downward and away from the feed lip, thus falling below the lower edge of the bolt face, causing the bolt to over ride the cartridge rim and jamming the round between the bolt and the forward edge of the magazine..
Bullet rises as it moves forward over front of magazine.

This doesn't seem to happen when feeding a cartridge from the left side of the stack. Upon closer study, my wife, who is a Mechanical Engineer, took a look and noted how the left side bullet nose strikes the front edge of the magazine much later than the bullet on the right side of the stack. The rear of the left side cartridge never falls down and away from the feed lip in the rear as the cartridge moves forward, thus maintaining contact with the face of the bolt and thereby being stripped from the magazine properly.
(Left side bullet contacts much later)

I'm not sure if this issue is being caused due to the forward feed lips being bent inward too low, or if it has something to do with the rear feed lips. Please look over photos and provide guidance on possible remedy's.
Honestly, my reproduction magazine seems to feed and function better than this Danish magazine, at least for now.

Sorry you are having woes. Inherited a Danish magazine in a purchase awhile back and had similar feed problems. I never bothered trying to correct it as I had originals already but since I hear of others using them there must be a trick to it? Also have a reproduction and it doesn't work worth a damn either. I would sell both but don't want to dump my problems on someone else.

Here are a couple dimensions I took off of working original mags. As you can see, dimensions can vary quite a bit for the mags to still feed fine.
Pay attention to the reference points.

Ha! Funny thing is I took Danish follower/spring and put into Repro body and it seems to work better than either one in it's original configuration. I was able to cycle by hand some 198 FMJ surplus rounds with reasonable success. The first five of ten cycled and ejected just fine. On the sixth round it did the same thing that was happening before, with the bolt skipping over the top of the case rim and pinching against the case body. I pulled bolt to rear slightly and released and the round popped up into alignment better and went home. I cycled it and the rest of the remaining four rounds with no issues. The bolt did not catch on the bolt lock back on empty though. I am going to try firing the gun tomorrow with this hybrid configuration and see what happens.

Danish Mag

I had a Danish mag that came with my first G43 a duv 44. It never did feed very well. After I bought a few originals I reshaped the Danish mag feeder lips so they looked more like the originals lips. That fixed my problems.

So did you remove metal from the feeder lips? Or did you just bend them to the same angle as those on the original G 43 magazines? When you say feeder lip, do you mean the small lips in front or the Big lips in rear? I don’t suppose you would be willing to take a picture of your magazine and provide dimensions like those provided earlier? Since yours works I’d be interested to know what the difference is between yours and mine. Thanks for the comments

I now have a second danish mag thanks to Roger S, and this one works like a champ. It successfully fed and cycle a mag filled with a mixture of 150 grain soft point reloads and 198 grain PRVI FMJ’s. This included an unexpected three round burst due to consecutive slam fires from three PRVI FMJ’s that had been previously manually test cycled in the gun weeks ago, causing the primers to be slightly dimpled. Upon being struck a second time by the free floating firing pin the primers detonated causing all three dimpled rounds to go off one after the other. It certainly got my attention. Since then I’ve been removing the firing pin when testing live rounds in the chamber. I hope to also use this good danish mag as a go by, so I cantweek my first Dane to get it working. I also have an original German mag on the way thanks to LTCar2.

Spent a few minutes today comparing feed lips of my working danish mag to the first danish mag I got that doesn’t work. Saw where the issues lie and did a little careful bending. Now my first danish mag works just fine.
