I don't know much about late war Steyr rifles but does the butt stock look way undersize and the eagle H look funky?

Both are fine, late Steyr, even 1944’s often have the stocks sanded this way from the factory.

+1. Mine has the exact same marks.. under the e/H. Looks like maybe 60-80 grit on the bias? And rather random. A few strokes here..
