Until now I have been taking all my photos with my shitty iphone5. Well, I got a new camera for Christmas and some software to hopefully improve my photography. Pulled this rifle out to be my guinea pig because the original photos are not good at all. Any tips are appreciated.

Cool. I also got a Rebel for Christmas. I really like it but am trying to come up with a better lighting situation. Ryan uses a bounce flash (I think) and it seems to work wonders. I like the close ups I can get but don't like how dark my pictures are of the full rifle.

And hey, my iPhone worked great for years. This was taken on a iPhone.

I had the same trouble with darkness on the overall shots. I used the software to lighten them up. It seemed to work ok, but they obviously look enhanced. Im sure someone that knew what they were doing could work wonders.

Wish I could help. Honestly, It was difficult for me to work with the photos from Canon cameras. There may be some trick to it, but I've got the Nikon down pat. I can tell Canon from Nikon photos just by looking at them.

I think they look good too Nathan and some are outstanding. I particularly like the 1st photo in post 2. Lighting, focus and balance are spot on IMHO. I agree the lighting and shadow thing is tough. I'd also like to hear if anyone has any tips on lighting.
