Recent Nazi Ammo Pickup

I picked this up at a local club meeting. At first I thought this was for the Italian Breda mg. Discovered this is for a Dutch mg or one that accepts rimmed cartridges. Regardless it’s the first I have ever seen of this ww2 German marked ammo.

I brought a box of this ammo to the 98k forum meeting as a prize. I found several boxes of it and boxes of blank ammo not marked for MG but for the rifle and carbine around 25 years ago . I believe that ammo marked MG was primarily for the Dutch Lewis Gun. BILL

I found a box in Holland - but did not buy it as bringing it back with the ammo was an issue.

"...Dutch-made Lewis M1940 light machine gun, caliber 6.5x53R, with 97-round magazine..." - great looking firearm - hadn't seen one until reading this thread and doing some research.

The English "Bad-guys" in the German war-time propaganda films always seemed to use Lewis guns.
