Danzig Model 2

flynaked

Repo Field Gear Collector
Picked up this little model 2 a while back and decided to take some pictures as I thought someone might find it of interest here. This is an early post WW1 model, I remembered seeing the 98a versions before but not this one. Thankfully Paul was there to fill in all the gaps, likely built 1919-21 and the 2nd earliest recorded at S/N 150. I like the tiny and I do mean tiny Prussian proofs, this whole rifle is so darn small, the receiver is literally the diameter of my index finger.

According to Richard Carey (RIP)

These were mostly imported between the wars and sold off the Commissary Trains that ran the Northern Plains states.

a few still turn up in import shipments, and no doubt some were returned as war booty.

However, they were not designed or intended to be " trainers" but an expensive "garden" or homestead type .22

Agreed and probably poor placement on my part for that reason. Very cool on the low S/N’s! I knew of number 1 but that’s it.

Cool! Thanks for that, neat to see this little rifle end up on a s/n survey in Poland :happy0180:
Picked it up at a small gun shop, there was an old tag on it that said something like “African boy’s rifle” no clue what that was about but interesting to ponder its history. One look at it and I gladly forked over the 40 bucks lol.

I just ran across this thread. I am the lucky owner of serial number "1". I stumbled onto it on Gunbroker, with no mention in the description of the number.

I have #415, but the extractor was replaced ( before I got it ) with a home made one which does not fit properly. The case ruptures.
It's a unicorn item.
If I had a "print" or someone trusted me with theirs, I could have one made.
