This was my only keeper from the this years SOS/NGD in Feb. If dings could only talk.
Carried and kicked around but not abused. Came with super 43 dated sling - crusty and out of the closet.

Very nice ...... if only it could write its biography. I am sure it would be 2 thumbs up.

I have to confess to actually preferring a rifle that has the "patina of war" vs the pristene example that most likely stood guard duty in front of a govt bldg.

I know they dont bring the top dollar that the "mint" examples do , but that is a-ok with me since i feel a little closer to history with a gun that obviously has a story to tell.

Dont get me wrong a I'll buy a shoulder queen any time i get a chance , but my favorite girlfriends have been rode hard and put up wet.

Very nice Bruce.

In your expereince, what is the approx observed ratio of Walnut:Laminate stocks in '38, '39, and '40?

Reviving this thread - my newly acquired all-matching but bolt Oberndorf 1938 is LAMINATE, and is "42" marked - not S/42.

Mine has the been-there-seen-lots look too, right down to an odd stain on the butt that I don't want to guess what it could be...

Nice rifle Bruce, that's a real combat Vet!
I'll bet it spent a lot of time on the "Ostfront".
