ZF4 scope cover repair?

Ok, 'nother newbie question. The ZF4 scope and mount I had pictured with my ac/45 K43 recently had a scope lens cover with it. Unfortunately, the objective lens cap's leather strap was broken off right where it was riveted onto the cap due to age/wear. Does a guy try and fix that? Leave it alone? And if so, in what manner. TIA.
 
I guess the next question is does it have any value as it is, or does the strap being broken pretty much trash the whole thing?
